Is Gap Being Accused?

Well I think that we should find out about what Companys are useing Child Slavory well lets go find out.

New York (CNN) Clothing retailer Gap Inc. has fired an Indian company accused of using child labor to make clothes, the company's president said."It's deeply, deeply disturbing to all of us," Gap President Marka Hansen said Sunday after watching a video of children at work. Hansen blamed the alleged abuse on an unauthorized subcontractor for one of its Indian vendors and said the subcontractor's relationship with the Gap had been "terminated."

"We strictly prohibit the use of child labor,"
One 10-year-old boy told the paper he was sold to the company by his parents.
"'I was bought from my parents' village in [the northern state of] Bihar and taken to New Delhi by train," The Observer quoted the boy as saying. "The men came looking for us in July. They had loudspeakers in the back of a car and told my parents that, if they sent me to work in the city, they won't have to work in the farms. My father was paid a fee for me, and I was brought down with 40 other children."

Another boy, 12, said he worked from dawn until 1 a.m. and was so tired he felt sick, according to the paper. But if any of the children cried, he told The Observer, they would be hit with a rubber pipe or punished with an oily cloth stuffed in their mouths.

The children were producing hand-stitched blouses for the Christmas market in the United States and Europe at Gap Kids stores, according to the newspaper. The blouses were to carry a price of about $40, The Observer reported.

The Gap faced criticism for similar practices in 2000, when a BBC documentary uncovered young girls producing Gap products at a Cambodian factory. But since then, Hansen said, the company has developed comprehensive policies to prevent abuse and protect workers' rights. Hansen said violations of those policies are now "extremely rare."

Nike Accused of Slave, Child Labor

So the word around is that Nike is being accused of Child Labor. Joel D. Joseph, head of Made in the USA Foundation, a union backed lobbying group with 60,000 members, charged on Thursday that Air Jordans are made in Indonesia by 11 and 12 year-old girls making 22 cents an hour. More than 60 years ago the United States banned child labor, sweatshops, long workdays and workweeks. But now we are subsidizing, encouraging and failing to criticize the enslavement of young people in the Third World says Josehp. Officials of the Nike Jakarta office declined to comment, saying that they are not permitted to comment to the media. Nike headquarters in Beaverton, however, said earlier that its employees monitor adherence to contracts that prohibit child labor and require compliance with labor and wage laws. It said that its overseas factories pay workers often twice the prevailing minimum wage. A Jakarta-based American analyst also defended Nike. Nike says "Modern machinery and young workers, but not children."

When is this Child Labor going to stop? We all know that it is wrong then why wont any one do anything about it why? If I could stop child labor I would. I just cant belive that nobody is doing anything about this. These children all around the world need help and these children dont deserve to be treated like this. They need people that care and people that love them like a real family that they can run and talk to when they need someone to talk to and when they need help. And when they are hurt and these children need to be safe and they need help somtimes they need to go to school they need an education. These children arent going any where and they need to. Sombody needs to wake these people up these children need our help to save them before its to late, and its not to late yet but time is ticking, days and weeks are flying, years are passing. Lets get up and do somthing about this NOW.

STOP

Its always A New Life, Money, Food, Shelter, Job, Security that lures millions of young women and children who get into the fake trap about Child labor they always fall for it and that is not good. Or even some of the children are either kidnapped or sold by there own family or even there friends can you belive that I mean how would you like it if your family or your best friend sold you? You wouldnt be to happy. I know that I wouldnt. They dont get to choose there childhoods are literly stolen from them. They need to stop Child Labor why should they bassicaly kill these children why? What is the point to this? When will it stop? It needs to stop it wrong very wrong why wont any one do anything about it or at least try harder?

How Many

In the year of 2000 the ILO did an estimate to how many children are out there all over the world doing Child Labor, and there is about " 246 million " children out there who are working and they are 5 to 17 who were involved in the Child Labor and witch that means there were also 171 million who were involved in work by nature and hazardous to their safety, either physical or mental health and moral development. So 8.4 million children were engaged and 'unconditanol'. Im guessing that your some what woundering where they ar living well about 61% of them are in Asia 32% live in Africa and about 7% live in Latin America they also live in Europe and the U.S and Canada and other places. In Asia theres about 22% of the workers there who are children. Now you might be woundering who is starting this today? Well I can tell you who it is it's the parents becuase they are uninploded and cant work so there children go and work for them and pay the bills and work for the income. Also children do it cuase they are dissaplined more and they know that they have to listen to the older adults the children have no say in it they have to do what they say. If they dont they get on alot of trouble and they may even get wipped. So they dont have a very good life they get to work long hours of the day and they cant go to school and they dont get anything in return.
